Installation set for Hermann Sons officers
Oscar Kuehner from the Grand Lodge Laws Committee of the Order of the Sons of Hermann in Texas, assisted by Ernest Kelly, also from the Grand Lodge Laws Committee, will install officers from eight Austin area Hermann Sons lodges at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Austin Hermann Sons Lodge Hall in Austin. In addition to the host lodge, Austin Lodge No. 120, leadership teams will be installed from Taylor Lodge No. 3, Richland Lodge No. 107, Round Rock Lodge No. 111, Coupland Lodge No. 113, New Bern Lodge No. 173, Schwertner Lodge No. 307 and Manchaca Lodge No. 321. Hermann Sons is a not-for-profit fraternal insurance society. Two German immigrants from New York organized the first Hermann Sons Lodge in San Antonio in 1861. The Grand Lodge was formed in 1890. The more than 76,000 members belong to one of 143 local lodges across Texas and have access to a wide range of fraternal benefits, including 34 tuition-free dance schools for its junior members age 3 through 17, a camp for its junior members age 9 through 13 and a retirement home.
