Tocquigny

Heather Brianne Tocquigny, a 2003 Honor graduate of Fairview High School in Boulder, Colo., graduated from the University of Southern California on May 11.

Tocquigny began her college career at the University of Colorado and is a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. A Denver Bronco Cheerleader for two years, she was one of 12 chosen for two Armed Forces Entertainment Tours, traveling to Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Cuba to entertain U.S. troops.

After transferring to the University of Southern California, she performed with the nationally ranked Trojan Dance Force, the hip-hop dance team Breakthrough, and was a member of the Repertory Dance Company, where she most recently portrayed Tinkerbell in the USC performance of “Peter Pan.”

Graduating with Honors, she received her bachelor of arts degree at the Bing Theater during graduation ceremonies on the USC campus. Ted Koppel was the commencement speaker. Honorary doctorates were bestowed on Koppel and Clint Eastwood.

Tocquigny is the daughter of Carla and Richard Tocquigny of Boulder and the granddaughter of Janell Rohlack of Taylor.


Temple College pinning ceremony

Temple College associate degree and vocational nursing graduates received their pins during a pinning ceremony on May 11 in the auditorium of the Mary Alice Marshall Performing Arts Center on the TC campus.

Several graduates received awards during the ceremony. The Caring Heart Award was given to David Svetly of Taylor. This award is based on the student's commitment to caring and their spirit in providing safe clinical nursing care to their patients.

Among those students receiving pins were several from East Williamson County.

Associate degree nursing graduates: Carol Gunter of Bartlett; Jennifer Forisha of Hutto; Crystal Cisneros, David Sisson and Glen Starnes of Taylor; Morgan McCoy of Thorndale.

Vocational nursing graduates: Kristen Marie Jones of Granger; Elizabeth Mary Asciutto and Jennifer Renee Harris of Hutto; Rhea Elaine Garza, Marie Denise Spencer, Chrystie Anne Smith, David Svetly and Donna Renee Turner of Taylor; Elizabeth Lee Hines of Thorndale; Marcia Finn and Elizabeth Traci Thelen of Thrall.


Shelton

Emily O. Shelton of Pekin, Ill. finished first in her graduating class with a 4.0 grade point average.

She was a member of the marching band, playing the flute and serving as a section leader. She also was a member of the Pep Band, Bible Club as co-leader, Creative Writing Club, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

She plans to attend Olivet Nazarene University, Kankakee, Ill., majoring in psychology.

She is the daughter of Kent and Margaret Ann Shelton. She is the great-granddaughter of Rose Lee Soper of Taylor and great-niece of Bill and Anne Soper of Hutto.


Blinn College

Blinn College has announced its academic honor students for the 2007 spring semester on its Bryan campus.

The college recognizes those students who take a minimum of 12 college credit hours and earn a grade point average of 3.25 to 3.74 as Distinguished Students and those with at least a 3.75 as President's Scholars.

Students from Williamson County making the lists were:

President's Scholars: Lindsay Martin of Granger and Kala McClain of Hutto.

Distinguished Students: Jonathan Harris of Hutto.
