Following are students making news this semester. Baylor University: Baylor conferred degrees on more than 1,700 graduates during spring commencement exercises Saturday, May 12, in the Ferrell Center. Two of the graduates were from Taylor. Jennifer Johnson graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in history. Valerie Slaughter graduated with a master's in business administration. Rossainz: Pamela Rossainz graduated from Blinn College in Brenham with an associate in science degree in business. Crawford: Chad Randall Crawford received his masters of divinity degree from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C. on May 21. During the commencement ceremony, he received The Greek Award, which is awarded to the student who shows excellence in ancient languages and translation. In the same weekend he was ordained as a minister at Knollwood Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. Crawford is a 2000 graduate of Hutto High School and he received his bachelors of arts degree in religion from the University of Mary Hardin Baylor in 2004. Randig: Brent Randig graduated from Tarleton State University on May 5 with a bachelor of science degree in wildlife management. Randig is the son of Trisha and Donald Randig. Thomas: Daniel Thomas, a Taylor High School alumni, has been named to the dean's list for the 2007 spring semester at Angelo State University. Students need a 3.25 GPA or better to be named to the list. Alderete: Alejandro Robles Alderete of Taylor made the president's honor roll at Stephen F. Austin for the spring semester. Alderete maintained a GPA of 4.0. Sam Houston State University: Five Williamson County students have earned degrees at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville. Several underclassmen from Williamson County were named to the dean's list and president's honor roll. Taylor's Marcopolo Castillo graduated with a bachelor's degree in business administration. Taylor graduate Tabitha Nicole Haskins received a bachelor of fine arts degree in dance. Andrew David Oser, a Taylor High School graduate, received his master's degree in education and instructional technology. Taylor's Carlos Rodriguez received a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice. Troy Jacob Biehle of Thorndale graduated with a bachelor's degree in business administration management. Senior Laurie Ann Raesz from Taylor was named to the President's Honor roll, for students who maintained a 4.0 GPA. Several local students also made the dean's list, maintaining a GPA at 3.5 or higher. Students from Taylor were Joseph C. Cantu, Mendy Gayle Hegar, Andrew David Oser and Laurie Ann Raesz. Students from Thorndale were Jonathan Pritchard and James Taylor Rowe.
