Dodson named Rodeo queen


Dodson

Mary Cathryn Dodson was named the 2007 Rodeo Queen during Saturday's performance of the Taylor Rodeo.

She is the daughter of Darlene and the late Bill Dodson of Thrall. Her grandparents are William L. and the late Marjorie Dodson of Austin, and the late Todd and Julia Garrett of Hempstead.

She is a senior at Thrall High School, a member of the National Honor Society, Cross-Country and Track teams, as well as one of the drum majors for the Tiger Band.

She is a two-year state qualifier for cross-country, selected to the All Region Band this past year, and she received commendations for her performance on the exit level TAKS Math test, as well as receiving the all year Honor Roll Award.

Other school activities include participation in UIL Mathematics and UIL Solo and Ensemble. She also is manager for the girls basketball team.

She is a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and is active in the church Hand Bell choir as well as the Youth Band.

She enjoys swimming, water skiing, reading and playing her flute.

She plans to attend Blinn College in Brenham, then transfer to Texas Lutheran University, where her goals are to major in music, minor in math, and eventually become a music teacher.
