Three arrested over weekend for drug, gun charges By Tessa Moll Three people were arrested early Saturday morning for various felony charges after a traffic stop by a Taylor police officer for failing to signal at a turn. Charles Wright, 30, and Shamalar Rivers, 22, were charged with possession of a controlled substance, a state jail felony. Taylor resident Larry Thompson, 25, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to Capt. Don Georgens. According to the incident report, at around 2 a.m. Saturday, Officer Josh Olson observed the vehicle playing loud music and pulled it over after the driver failed to signal the turn at the corner of Burkett and Third streets. The driver did not have his driver's license, so the officer questioned the three passengers. Olson asked to search the vehicle after noting suspicious behavior, Georgens said. In the vehicle, the officer discovered less than a gram of crack cocaine. Thompson was arrested after Olson found two loaded revolvers in his pockets. The charge is a third-degree felony. The driver was not arrested.
