Class of ‘08

Graduation season got off to a small start Friday as the Harris Ross Head Start program honored its Class of 2008.

The pre-K grads marched down the aisles in the auditorium at Taylor High School betweens rows of proud parents and family members to the sounds of “Pomp and Circumstance,” before taking their seats on the stage.

The keynote speaker for the ceremony was Frances Hewtty, a Head Start alumnus who is preparing for her graduation from THS later this month. The senior is among the top students in her class and will attend Hardin-Simmons University next fall.

She thanked teachers for the advantage she was given by Head Start, and said one thing she misses about the program is nap time.

The graduates and their 3 and 4-year-old classmates sang a few songs for parents and sat, mostly patiently, before receiving their diplomas from Taylor Mayor Benito Gonzales.
