Little dogs see toys in everything and bite into everything they find. Even on euro notes. While Grégory was messing around in his garage, an 8-month-old Golden Retriever managed to grab an envelope of cash from the counter. “I thought I worked for nothing,” says one Liege resident. Fortunately, the National Bank came with good news in the meantime.
The cover contained a total of 2,000 Euro banknotes. In just under half the time, Grégory of Liège was able to recover. But a stack of banknotes worth about 1,100 euros was too damaged to be issued.
“The money was a car loan. But when I entered the living room I didn’t know what I saw. Pieces of euro notes were everywhere. I tried to repair or rebuild as many notes as I could with duct tape. But I assumed it wouldn’t be enough and they would announce that they don’t value to them.”
At his bank branch, he advised him to contact the National Bank. There he has good news. “If the damage is involuntary and more than half of the paper currency remains, it will be replaced free of charge and completely,” the National Bank said.
