Salar Abbasi Abassi is from Balsardam and has Iranian roots. His parents came from there, before settling in Zaandam in the Netherlands. He got it from Grace Rodriguez of Breda. “I was a very tactical player at the beginning (which was not appreciated by everyone), but gradually I became myself again,” said the winner.
After Ghent’s Noshin became the last player to withdraw on Wednesday, the final was between Flemish Kristof and Dutchmen Grace and Sallar. Many fans could not understand that Grace ended up in the final. They were convinced that she should have left a few days earlier. Noshin was many times more popular than Grace. According to a number of viewers on Twitter, Brazil is “on” to get Grace on tour. Grace’s roots lie in that country.

Little chance to win
Although Stabroek’s Christoph Timmermans reached the final straight away with a gold key, his chances of winning were always very slim. So it was no surprise that he finished third in the final. “I had to compete against two strong candidates. They have a strong following on social media, and I had a little that killed me.”

Stabroekenaar, a Schlager singer in his spare time, was immediately nominated to leave at the beginning of January. On the home front, running from Antwerp to Amsterdam on Saturday, no one thought he would steal the main prize.
