BVHeld tonight at the Elckerlyc Theater in Antwerp, The Weekend Cowboys is a comedy theatrical piece starring, among others, Sven de Rieder, Hermann Verbruggen and Aynth Tavernier. Many celebrities appeared on the red carpet. Not in cowboy costume, but they were in the Far West.

The legendary cowboy village of Den Alamo is hidden in the depths of the Calmut forest. Sheriff John Wayne (Luke Verhoeven), Salon President Miss Lizzie (Linda de Rieder), Doctor Besig Besson (Hermann Verbruggen), fisherman Chris Kruet (Brick Van Dyck) and country singer Tami Sue (Ianth Tavernier) meet every weekend. Once upon a time there were a lot of people in the Alamo, but the moth is inside. Now the local environment agency is calling for the village to be demolished. With the arrival of the excited young Jamie the Kid (Louis Thiessen), hope returns to the situation, but then an old acquaintance appears on the scene: Buffalo Ron (Sven de Ridder), a gunslinger with a bad personality. Will the Cowboys hold up this weekend or will the Alamo be brought down permanently soon?

Sven, who is also the director and screenwriter of this sitcom, is back on stage with his sister Linda for the first time in 17 years. “At a certain point I stopped acting,” Linda says. “I got sick of it and started working for a funeral director. But in 2016, I was itching to play again and left again.” During that time, Sven also had the idea of starting his own theater company. “I wanted to ask Linda to play in one of our plays for a while, because she’s a great actress. Only her agenda has always been full of other productions and has never really fit. So far. Above all, this collaboration looks very familiar. We know enough by looking So it tastes more and there are also plans in that direction.”
