INEOS Grenadiers cemented themselves for the upcoming season with Kim Heiduk. The 21-year-old Lotto-Kern Haus rider is the current German U23 road champion. As NewPro he signed a two-year contract with the British WorldTeam.

The German said through his new team that Heiduk can’t wait to start at INEOS Grenadiers. “As soon as I heard about INEOS’ interest, I knew this was the team for me. It was an incredible feeling. I am very happy to be a Grenadier. I am a very disciplined racer and focus on what I need to improve over the next couple of years. I think I can be good in the classics.” And I had a lot of fun in those races. I see myself as a very good sprinter, but I’m not quite sure where I stand with the pros yet. It’s not easy to win on your own, so it’s good to have a quick race!”

Great start to 2021
Rod Ellingworth, deputy team owner at Ineos Grenadines, saw Hedock’s start to the season well. The German finished fourth at the Tour of Rhodes and won a stage at the Tour d’Eure-et-Loir where he finished second in the final classification. Then he won his national title. “Kim has had a great start to 2021 and all our conversations with him have been very positive. He is determined to learn, improve and start his career in a great place. We look forward to seeing how he continues next year and adapts to life as a Grenadian,” said Illingworth.

Prior to signing his contract, Haydock undertook a training tour with Christian Keynes, the sporting director of Ineos Grenadiers, in their home country of Germany. The duo established a good relationship that helped Kim integrate into the team. “Phase one with Christian was great and we talked a lot. He’s been living with me for a few hours today, so we haven’t been able to ride much together since then, but we talked a lot – we’re in touch almost every day. I feel really comfortable and I don’t have any Nothing but good feelings about joining the team.”
