Keith Richards on an alleged feud with Paul McCartney: ‘Out of context’ | showbiz

celebritiesCan the Rolling Stones still get through one door with Paul McCartney (79)? This is the question asked by guitarist Keith Richards (78) on the Rolling Stone Music Now podcast. The reason was a rather unfortunate statement by McCartney last year.

Last year, The New Yorker featured an extensive interview with Paul McCartney. It contained an amazing quote from the singer/guitarist about the Rolling Stones: “I’m not sure I should say this, but it’s a blues band. Those are the Stones. I think we looked a little further.”

Great words, but Keith Richards saw no harm in them. “That’s what I thought when I first heard them,” he told The New Yorker. Paul and I know each other very well. So when I first read the interview, I said, “Ah, there really is some abstraction and editing here.” The next day I got a message from Paul: “If you’ve read this nonsense, believe me, it’s all taken out. out of context.”

The two popular groups have often shared a stab at each other in recent years. For example, Richards called “The Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club was ‘undesirable.’ Could McCartney’s sarcasm have something to do with it? It could be, but Paul isn’t,” Richards said. He responded quickly. If he meant to say so, he wouldn’t bother replying. Hi, Paul is a great guy. Come on, just look at the songs he wrote. You can’t tear down a man like this. When you get such little things published in the press, we just ignore them.”

The Rolling Stones will be touring again in the coming months, to commemorate their 60th anniversary. They will also visit Belgium on July 11. Tickets are still available for their show at the King Baudouin Stadium.
