Kobo has unveiled two new e-readers. The biggest innovation is that both devices are Bluetooth enabled, so audiobooks can also be listened to. The Kobo Sage and Kobo Libra 2 will go on sale on October 19.
With new Bluetooth features, these are the first Kobo e-readers that can be paired with Bluetooth headphones or speakers to listen to audiobooks. This could only be Kobo Audiobooks, and they are currently Not yet available separately in the Benelux. At Bol.com and Kobo Shared e-book appHowever, it is still not clear if the audiobooks available in this app will also be available in Benelux via e-readers.
Both devices comply with IPx8 certification and are water-resistant for up to sixty minutes, with a maximum depth of two meters, according to the manufacturer. They also have “ComfortLight Pro” lighting. This is what Kobo calls a combination of white and colored LEDs with which the blue light can be dimmed. The color temperature can also be adjusted using this.
The Kobo Sage will be the more expensive of the two, with a suggested retail price of €290. The e-reader comes with a stylus for taking notes. The screen has an 8-inch diagonal screen and has a streaming E-Ink Carta HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1440 pixels. The Sage has 32GB of storage and includes support for Dropbox. A “PowerCover” is also included, a kind of cover for the e-reader that can also charge the device via the built-in battery.
Just like Kobo Libra 2 Its predecessor, Kobo Libra H2O7-inch e-reader. Like the H2O, the device has an E-Ink Carta HD display with a resolution of 1680 x 1264 pixels. Unlike this version, the Libra 2 has 32 GB of memory instead of 8 GB. It also offers Bluetooth support, just like Sage. This e-reader is supposed to cost €190 when the device comes out on October 19.
