As a rider, Kurt Van de Wouwer played for Lotto cycling teams for many years and after his sporting career he became the team captain. He knows the ins and outs of the team through and through.
Van de Weer has been the head of the development team and the women’s team for many years. Under his wings, young talents like Arnaud De Lie, Florian Vermeersch and Maxim Van Gils are taking the step towards the pros.
With Van de Wouwer appointed, the team wants to ensure continuity. “He will be responsible for all sporting decisions so that the team can focus fully on preparations for the new season,” Lotto Soudal said.
“I am very proud to be able to take this step,” says Van de Weer himself. “This team means everything to me, after all the years I’ve worked here as a rider, sporting director, manager for the development team and the women’s team.”
