An Australian man has been charged with murder after allegedly cutting off another man’s leg. Police assume that the two people involved had “some kind of agreement”.

A 66-year-old man died on Saturday morning in a park in Innesville, Queensland, Australia. The victim, whose leg had been cut off, was found by passersby, seriously injured, but she died shortly afterwards of his wounds. Later in the day, the local police managed to arrest a 36-year-old suspect.

Investigators assume that both men – who knew each other well – had a “kind of agreement” under which the younger man would have his sixty’s leg amputated. According to police, the two men headed to the park early on Saturday morning, where the man in his 30s removed the other’s leg – below the knee – with a circular saw about twenty minutes later. At the moment it is not clear what are the motives of both.

The suspect then helped the injured man back into the car and then left the park on foot. “In my 34-year career as a police officer, I’ve never experienced anything like this,” said Detective Inspector Gary Hunter.

The suspect will appear in court on Monday.
