PropertyIn the latest episode of Spotify’s “Archives” podcast, Meghan Markle, 41, criticized TV shows like How I Met Your Mother and Scrubs. For example, she talks about how women are often incorrectly described as “crazy” by those soap operas, among other things.
“Raise your hand if you have been called crazy or hysterical. Or maybe completely insane or irrational? You already get my point,” the Duchess said in her podcast. “If we could all see each other, it would be very clear how many hands there are.” Up in the air. Me too by the way. And it’s not surprising when you see how prevalent these classifications are to us in today’s culture.”
Meghan replayed some excerpts from the scenes after her statement to make her point. One of them is from the popular “How I Met Your Mother” series. In it, character Barney says, “A woman can be crazy, as long as she’s just as hot.” In another audio clip from “Scrubs,” Dr. Elliot Reed’s character says, “Carla, I can’t stand her! I can’t hide my madness for another minute.”
Furthermore, the Duchess has stated that calling the woman “crazy” is causing her a lot of damage. Our credibility is being undermined. It wrecks relationships and families, takes down reputations and takes out jobs. It will also have an effect on women with mental health issues. They are afraid and silent. They absorb everything and then suppress their feelings.”
