LONDON (Reuters) – Nestl (NESN.S) said on Tuesday it was moving formulas for children from the Netherlands and Switzerland to the United States to reduce shortages at US supermarkets.

Nestlவதாக will ship Gerber baby formulas from the Netherlands to the United States and Alphamino baby formulas from Switzerland to the United States, Nestle said in an email to Reuters.

“We give priority to these products because they serve an important medical purpose because they are for children who are allergic to cow’s milk protein,” the company said. “Both products were already imported, but we moved exports and flew to meet immediate needs.”

Abbott Laboratories (ABT.N), the largest manufacturer in the United States, recalled dozens of Similac, Alimentum and Eligare formulas in February as baby milk aisles at US supermarkets were emptied by panicked parents.

Reckitt Benckiser (RKT.L) is increasing formula production for children by about 30 percent and increasing frequent deliveries to stores to address nationwide shortages at U.S. supermarkets, a director told Reuters Tuesday. read more
