At 2 p.m., a new search begins for 10-year-old Hebei from Vocht and her supervisor, 26-year-old Sunny. The focus is now on the village of Drunen, where there is a nature reserve. The new website was based on information and advice received by the police. At the same time, the area around Speke (near the town of ‘s-Hertogenbosch, not far from the Belgian border) is still being combed. Especially Polanenweg looked like an interesting track because the two were spotted there on Monday afternoon. Meanwhile, she called on the police to share photos of the missing.
A police helicopter often flies over the area under investigation. Groups of people looking for roadsides and ditches. The sites where the cars were searched yesterday are now being searched on foot.
The search team for veterans searches for disturbances in the terrain. “It could be a cut branch or paths in the grass,” says co-founder Mariska van der Kraats. “These guys are trained for that. The group has built up mental toughness. And that’s essential, because what you find isn’t always interesting.”
85 percent of the team are veterans, and the rest are former police officers and forest rangers. “We have a reason to do it. And that is for the sake of the family. The rest is secondary.”
A little before eight this morning, there was a meeting between police officers and participants in the search teams. The focus was mainly on one street in Waspik, Polanenweg. This is along the channel. “We are constantly looking to see if we can look at other locations,” the police said.
Yesterday morning there wasAmber Alert‘Posted to the Dutch girl. 10-year-old Hebe has a disability and requires the necessary care, which can be given to her by Chancellor Sani (26 years old) from Den Bosch. The two were together when they lost.
Considering all scenarios
“We don’t know if Sunny is still with her or not, but Hebei can’t work independently,” Police Chief Stijn van Grinsven said last night on the talk show “Jenick.” But is it a kidnapping or an accident? “We know Hebe and Sunny had a very close relationship, and this also applies to both families. But at this point in the investigation, we are still considering all possible scenarios.” The police received many tips as a result of the broadcast, but they came to nothing at the moment.
The family hopes that they will be found together soon. “We want nothing more than to bring Hebe back into our arms,” she said in a statement.
Cry for help
There was also an intense search for them yesterday. Initially with several volunteers, they were contacted after a cry for help from Hebe’s mother on Facebook. Dear people, a letter I never thought I would have to write. Sunny and Hebei are missing. They never got there when Sanne brought Hebe home from ‘t Overstapje in Raamsdonkveer to Vught.” ‘t Overstapje is an orthopedic day center in the Dutch village of Raamsdonksveer, which is next to Waspik.
Searching in the water
Soon the police became big. The area between Ramsdonksphere and Foote was combed yesterday with a helicopter, among other things. Since 2:30 pm, a specific search has been carried out on Waspik, including with the Dutch police veterans team specializing in finding missing persons. After an oil track was discovered in Hooiweg, in an industrial area along the water, police searched for a possible vehicle in the water.
Not found. To make sure nothing was in the water, divers and a sonar boat continued their search last night. Searches have also been conducted elsewhere. Police searched all roads and waterways in and around the road from Ramsdonksvere to Vogt.
A friend of Hebe’s mother coordinated the search at the beginning of yesterday. A WhatsApp group has been created, where people can share the methods they have already searched for, among other things. The admin’s friends also helped find the two. Due to the overwhelming response, the girlfriend quickly turned over the role to the police.
The subjects who searched were initially helped and also cautioned against interfering with the matter in relation to the trace investigation, for example if they saw a slip sign. Subsequently, the police asked to leave the entire search to specialists. However, police will continue to call people via the amber alert to search for the two.
Hippie is 10 years old and wears a light purple Eastpak backpack, bright pink jacket, black skirt, blue shirt, and blonde hair. She has “special motor skills” because she walks unsteadily with her feet out. Her supervisor is 26-year-old Sani from Den Bosch. Together they drove a black Kia Picanto with registration number PR-425-K.
Loss comes like a hammer blow
The missing person arrived like a sledgehammer at ‘t Overstapje in Raamsdonksveer. Staff and guests react with sadness and confusion.
Hebei was part of a group of seven. “This greatly benefits the group,” said spokesman Karim Hammadi. “There is a lot of emotion, just like in the rest of the Netherlands. We are doing what we can to help everyone as best we can. We have short lines with the family and the police, and our role now is basically to provide support.”
Walwick Mayor Sasha Osims also sympathizes. She came last night to Hooiweg in Waspik, where they were looking for her. “It’s horrible what’s going on here,” Osms says. “This is a tragedy for the family and everyone involved in it.”
Given Hebei’s complex care needs, her parents established the Hebei Center in Vught in 2020 because they had nowhere else to go with their daughter. It was a place to relax. In May of this year, Hebe started her ‘t Overstapje daycare in Ramsdonkvere. “We struggled to bring her out of isolation and give her a place in the world,” the mother wrote on Facebook.
