The end of The Smiths may have been painful for a while, but Johnny Marr never fell into a black hole. The guitarist continued to play at a deadly pace. He explored different musical paths with artists such as The Pretenders and Talking Heads, and later joined The and Electronic bands full-time. In 2003, Marr formed his own band: Johnny Marr & the Healers. The Healers, consisting of Zak Starkey (son of Beatles drummer Ringo Starr) on drums, Alonza Bevan on bass, Liz Bonney on percussion, Lee Spencer on keys, and Adam Gray on guitar, were partly responsible for defining the band’s unique sound, but together they would release only one album.

“All Out Attack”, one of seven previously unreleased songs from the single album Boomslangnow dusted off after 21 years. Marr’s distinctive guitar playing is clearly present: the song is an interplay of technique and contemporary flair. “All Out Attack” begins with a catchy riff that quickly develops into an energetic beat, driven by Starkey’s powerful drums and Bevan’s powerful bass line. Subtle percussion and rich keyboard layers add depth to the composition. The Smiths’ signature melancholy is never far away, and the powerful British pop guitars take you back in time to the genre’s heyday.

Marr himself describes the original recording sessions as a period of artistic discovery, where the band immersed themselves in a creative cocoon to explore new sounds and styles. This reissue is not only a tribute to an important chapter in his career, but also a celebration of the unique chemistry the therapists once shared. Reissue Boomslang It will be released on September 20th.
