No majority in Parliament: Germany waives vaccination against Corona abroad

Germany waives compulsory vaccination against corona for anyone over 18 years old. The government coalition of Social Democrats, Greens and Liberals scrapped the plan for not having a majority in parliament, German newspaper Bild reported.

Recently, during a debate in Parliament, divisions have already emerged. Both parties questioned whether the obligation should not apply from a higher age, for example from age 50.

Opponents questioned the usefulness of vaccinations. They talked about the violation of the basic rights of citizens. On the other hand, proponents believe that the vaccination requirement from October 1 will help prevent the spread of the Corona virus again in the fall and winter.

The obligation will not apply to people who have clearly recovered from the coronavirus. All other adults should have had three vaccinations by October. The obligation also applies to aliens who have been in the Federal Republic for more than six months. Refusals must take into account a fine of up to 25,000 euros.
