To be eligible for the nomination, an artist must have at least one Top 40 album or two Top 20 hits released between December 10, 2021 and December 9, 2022. A total of 70 stars were eligible, only twelve of them of the females. That long list is generated by the record companies that present the artists. Then about 1,200 people chose the best five.
