OnePlus Nord 2T review: Small upgrades, big smartphone

  • Android 14. Support
  • No price increase

Deceive

  • Not much difference with North 2
  • No reason to upgrade

The OnePlus Nord 2T is the third flagship in Nord’s line of smartphones. Will OnePlus score a triple?

OnePlus Nord 2T arrives a little less than a year after its launch OnePlus North 2 (and the Pac-Man Edition which appeared shortly thereafter). The device should continue the success of this device and its predecessor by offering leading performance in an affordable jacket and providing OnePlus with a dominant position in the midfield.

You will undoubtedly notice that OnePlus has not called the device OnePlus Nord 3. The smartphone manufacturer declares that the label is reserved for a device with big enough upgrades and the T designation as it is always used for smaller updates. This immediately creates the right expectations for the OnePlus Nord 2T, because in addition to fast charging 80W and the latest processor, the device is very similar to its predecessor. Price includes, as it has not changed.

Design

Since the smartphone is very similar to its predecessor, we do not have to repeat ourselves too often, and it is useful to take a look at the variable specifications above. The design still looks the way we’re used to from OnePlus. The available colors are Gray Shadow and Jade Fog, a finish that is slightly reminiscent of the silver version of the OnePlus 9 Pro.

OnePlus North 2T

The 6.43-inch Fluid Amoled display remains, with the notch in the usual spot in the top left. There is also a fingerprint sensor and it works as smoothly as on previous models. The OnePlus alert slider can be found on the right side, which we definitely missed Recently Released Nord CE 2 5G† On the back, we have the biggest difference, because the Camera Island has been given a new look. Two black circles dominate the island, but if you look closely you will see that there are three cameras: main, ultra-wide and monochrome.

cameras

In detail, it comes to the famous Sony IMX766 sensor 50 megapixels for the main camera, 8 megapixels for ultrawide and 2 megapixels for the monochrome version. Up front, it’s still a 32MP selfie camera for better-than-average selfies (like the 10 Pro). Just like Nord 2, Nord 2T has the necessary artificial intelligence on board to make your photos look as good as possible. For example, green plants are recognized, but also a bouquet of roses and twenty other elements. If people are detected, the AI knows that you probably want to make a photo.

OnePlus Nord 2T Selfie

The color reproduction of images is still good. It’s of course not as Hasselblad level as it is with the OnePlus 10 Pro, but the color comes naturally without being overly saturated. Perfect for capturing memories. Nightscape is also there for taking pictures in the dark, which is very good thanks to the added power of the new Mediatek Dimensity 1300 chipset.

4K 30p video is enough for this price point and you have the option to record super slow motion videos at 960fps.

OnePlus Nord 2T performance

OnePlus has always focused on a fast and smooth experience and that is also the case here. The slightly faster chipset, combined with the 90Hz screen, ensures that everything runs a little faster, and above all, your phone will last a little longer. This is necessary, because the OnePlus 2T comes with two Android updates and comes with OxygenOS 12 out of the box instead of OxygenOS 11 with Nord 2. Three updates of course would be better. You will receive security updates for three years.

OnePlus Nord 2T Games

We have good news for those who like to play a game, because this is also possible on the OnePlus Nord 2T. We started with lighter games like Hearthstone and Warcraft Arclight Rumble and they played great. PUBG is not a problem either. Note that the dual stereo speaker on the bottom is quickly covered with your finger when you’re playing in landscape mode. In terms of audio performance, the speakers are also good and you can also watch a movie on Netflix. OnePlus also announced the first Nord Buds for those who want to use affordable wireless headphones.

battery

The OnePlus Nord 2T is equipped with SUPERVOOC 80W fast charging, a technology from OPPO’s stables that we also saw on the OnePlus 10 Pro. This immediately makes it one of the main features of this device. Therefore, within 15 minutes, you will be supplied with about two-thirds of your battery, which remains unchanged with a capacity of 4500 mAh.

OnePlus Nord 2T: Do you want to buy or not?

Although it has not changed much from its predecessor, the OnePlus Nord 2T is undoubtedly one of the best mid-range smartphones. Anyone who already owns Nord 2 won’t be convinced to upgrade with faster charging and a newer chipset, but if you want to trade in an older device, you can get a lot for 399 euros. If you don’t mind giving up some functionality, Nord CE 2 and Nord CE 2 Lite are also a good choice.
