Philippe Clement, coach of Club Brugge, is about to sign a contract with France’s Monaco. This is what the French news agency says. He will replace Croatian Niko Kovac, who was sacked on Thursday.

Clement will sign a two-and-a-half-year contract with the French first division. Agence France-Presse learned that “from a good source” appears on Friday evening. The Club Brugge coach was previously mentioned as a candidate for the position of Monaco, along with Portuguese Paulo Fonseca and American Jesse Marsh.

When Clement signs for the French club, he faces the second foreign adventure of his career. In 1998-1999, the former Red Devil played a season with England’s Coventry. As a coach, he worked only in his own country: as an assistant at Club Brugge (2012-2017) and head coach for Waasland-Beveren (2017), Genk (2017-2019) and Club Brugge (since 2019).

With 29 points from 19 matches, Monaco is sixth in Ligue 1. And in the Champions League, Monaco was already knocked out in the preliminary round by Shakhtar Donetsk, after which it qualified as the group winner for the eighth finals of the European League.
