Premium for those who replace the asbestos roof of the shed or stable with a solar roof | the interior

The premium is for unheated and non-residential buildings and therefore not for homes. There is already an investment premium for solar panels and an asbestos removal premium. However, Flanders also has more than 350,000 non-residential structures, such as barns and stables, that contain a lot of asbestos. The owners of these buildings are delaying the installation of solar panels due to the ban on installing solar panels on asbestos roofs.

Demir is now offering a temporary bonus to those who took the initiative this year to clean up their asbestos roof and convert it to a solar roof. “In the interest of the health of all Flemish, asbestos roofs must disappear as quickly as possible. At the same time, we must seize this momentum to maximize investment in renewable energy. We are doing it in a reasonable way with this initiative, without falling into oversubsidies,” he said. Says N-VA Minister.

Anyone who replaces their asbestos roof before December 31, 2022 can count on a premium of €12/m² if they meet the conditions. A total of 23 million euros has been made available for this purpose. “If the entire budget is exhausted, we could have an additional surface area of about 2 million square meters of asbestos treated roofs and an additional capacity of about 40 megawatts from solar panels. Or to put it visually: 300 additional football fields with renovated roofs and 30 football fields filled with solar panels,” according to Minister Demir’s calculations.
