Russia denounces the lack of an invitation to attend the Queen’s funeral: “blasphemy” | Abroad

Russia on Thursday spoke of a “blasphemous” and “immoral” stance on the part of the United Kingdom, after London decided not to invite a Russian representative to Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral on Monday. Everything, of course, has to do with the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“We consider this British attempt to use the national tragedy that touched the hearts of millions of people around the world for geopolitical purposes to deal with our country (…) as highly immoral,” the Russian diplomatic spokeswoman said. Maria Zakharova in a statement. “This is particularly blasphemy against the memory of Elizabeth II,” she added.

The spokeswoman regretted that the UK had used the Russian attack in Ukraine as an “excuse” not to invite a Russian leader to the funeral.

Russia, like its Belarusian ally, Myanmar and North Korea, has not been invited to attend the funeral of the Queen, who died last Thursday at the age of 96.

“British elites are now on the side of the Nazis,” Zakarova said, referring to London’s strong military and financial support for Kiev against Russian military intervention.
