Sometimes a bad rehearsal is a harbinger of a good performance. Iga Swiatek’s preparation for the last Grand Slam tournament of the season was challenging and surprising fans.
Some spoke of a summer stagnation after early eliminations from Wimbledon, Warsaw and Toronto.
In New York, she left those doubts behind. Especially in the first set of the final against Anas Jaber. Swiatek hit more winners, dominated the net, and her transmission in particular was more consistent and efficient. Jaber hardly got involved.

The group turned into a thrill. The tie had to be broken to make the decision. Jaber didn’t hit the ball until 6-5 with Swiatek.
