The FIA announced a few minutes ago that Michael Massey has been removed from his position as Formula One race director. He confirms rumors that have been circulating for some time, after which his Formula 1 job will end in less than three years.
World Champion Verstappen by Massey Decision
Massey’s resignation as Formula 1 race director comes as a result of an FIA investigation following the controversial final rounds in Abu Dhabi, after which Max Verstappen was crowned world champion.
Mercedes, and especially team boss Toto Wolff, has been highly critical of the race director. Lewis Hamilton will not decide whether to continue as a Formula One driver until the outcome of the investigation is known.
Nils Wittich and Eduardo Freitas, of the DTM and WEC endurance championships respectively, are F1’s new race directors.
