German Health Minister Karl Lauterbach called on the federal states to take additional measures against the high number of coronavirus infections in the country. It is recommended that the mouth mask adhere to the indoor areas.

Lauterbach told German public broadcaster ZDF that it was time to take additional measures against the coronavirus. “The wave of pollution that is emerging now will not stop on its own. You have to respond,” he said. The minister called on the sixteen federal states to assume their responsibilities. The German Medical Association also calls for a commitment to the use of a mouth mask in enclosed spaces.
The Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the German counterpart of Belgium’s Sciensano Institute, reported a seven-day infection rate of 793.8 infections per 100,000 population on Thursday. This concerns only infections that have been officially identified by PCR testing. As in other countries, their injuries are no longer officially registered with many Germans. Germany expects infection rates to rise further in the fall and winter.
