The Google Pixel 7 Pro camera now has an auto macro feature

Google has added a macro feature on the Pixel 7 Pro. This feature is part of a new version of the Google Camera app that’s rolling out now. What’s great about the macro function is that the Pixel 7 Pro can identify when a macro is needed.

Camera Pixel 7 Pro Now it’s more convenient to take close-up photos. Google is currently releasing Macro feature for Pixel 7 Pro with version 8.7.250 of the Google Camera app. This knows 9To5Google. Macro functionality is only available for the Pro version and not for the base Pixel 7 model. Only the Pixel 7 Pro has a wide-angle lens with autofocus, which makes it suitable for taking macro photos.

If you have the latest version of Google Camera, a feature called “Auto Macro” is active by default in the app’s settings. With Auto Macro, smart algorithms can estimate on their own when you get so close that the macro function must be triggered in order to take a sharp photo. The Camera app then switches to a different lens.

By the way, it is also possible to control the macro function via the Google Camera drop-down menu. There you can disable auto mode and enable or disable macro instead. For example, the app only takes macro photos or nothing at all, respectively.

Feedback while filming

It is worth noting that Google shows with small text messages on the screen whether the macro function is working or not. When you’re shooting a subject up close, you’ll see a confirmation that the macro mode is on. If Auto Macro is turned off in the settings, but then you try to take a close-up photo, you will be reminded to turn off the macro function.
