The super yacht Roman Abramovich has arrived in the Turkish holiday resort of Bodrum | Abroad

Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich’s yacht ‘My Solaris’ docked in the Turkish resort of Bodrum on Monday. The yacht had set sail from Montenegro a week ago after the Chelsea FC president was listed by the European Union and the United Kingdom as sanctioned oligarchs over the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Turkey refused to support Western sanctions against Russia.

Using data from websites such as MarineTraffic and VesselFinder, which tracks the ship’s location data, it was possible to follow how the ship followed a southern course in the Mediterranean for an entire week. I left Montenegro a week ago, then sailed through Italy and Greece in the direction of Turkey. It had previously departed on March 8 from the Barcelona shipyard, where repairs had allegedly been made.

It was expected that Abramovich wanted to drive his giant yacht to safe waters – to a country where the ship was not afraid to be impounded. As a NATO country, Turkey is trying to mediate between Moscow and Kiev. And refused to ratify Western sanctions against Russia.

The superyacht “My Solaris” has been in service for only one year. Abramovich paid €496 million for the 140-meter, eight-deck boat, pool, spa, beach club and helipad.

According to Reuters, there is no indication that Abramovich himself is on the boat. Last week, the billionaire was going from Istanbul to Moscow by private jet. A spokesman for Abramovich did not respond to questions from Reuters.

The luxury yacht ‘Eclipse’, another Russian billionaire’s boat, is still on the move. It also sails south in the Mediterranean and is also near the Turkish coast, according to MarineTraffic.

Several giant yachts belonging to Russian oligarchs have been seized in recent weeks, including in France, Germany and Italy. With sanctions, the EU wants to punish the wealthy businessmen surrounding President Putin for the war in Ukraine.
