These are the new Microsoft Surface devices

In honor of the brand’s 10th anniversary, Microsoft today launched three new Surface laptops: the Surface Laptop 5, Surface Pro 9, and Surface Studio 2+.

It was a very ambitious concept at the time, because Microsoft tried to bundle a desktop computer, laptop, tablet, and smartphone into one.

Surface Laptop 5

The Surface Laptop is now in its fifth generation. As for the display, you can choose between a 13.5-inch screen or a 15-inch screen. Both display options support Dolby Vision IQ for the best image reproduction, and Dolby Atmos 3D speakers produce identical sound quality.

The laptop boasts Intel Evo certification, which means you can rely on the latest generation Intel Core processors and Intel Iris Xe Graphics video card. The Surface Laptop 5 is fifty percent more powerful than the previous generation, according to Microsoft. You should not look for a configuration with an AMD chip this time; Microsoft AMD has shown the door.

Microsoft promises that the battery will last a full life, although the manufacturer does not dare to express this promise in a number of hours. We complain about the lack of ports on the Surface devices, but this time we can report the presence of USB-C Thunderbolt 4.

The Surface Laptop 5 will be available from October 25 with a starting price of €1,179 (including VAT). For that base price, you have a configuration with an Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, and 256GB SSD.

Surface Pro 9

Of course the pioneer of the hybrid laptop is not to be missed at the Christmas party. Microsoft is merging the Surface Pro and Surface Pro X brand names into the latest generation. The device has a 13-inch PixelSense display, HD camera, speakers and an Omnisonic microphone. Microsoft claims that writing on the Surface Pro is like writing on a piece of paper.

Under the hood, Microsoft gives you two options. The first is an Intel Core i5 or i7 processor that meets all the requirements of the Intel Evo specification. You can also choose Microsoft’s SQ3 processor, Built on ARM architecture. This processor offers 5G support, but it should select Thunderbolt 4. Again no sign of AMD.

From November 8, you will be able to purchase the Surface Pro 9 for 1,199 euros. You then have an Intel Core i5, 8GB of RAM, and a 128GB SSD. The cheapest configuration with the SQ3 processor costs 1,549 euros and also has an 8 GB RAM and 128 GB SSD (prices include VAT).

Surface Studio 2+

With Surface Studio devices, Microsoft is targeting graphics professionals. Laptops are distinguished by their unique design. In addition to laptop and tablet mode, the monitor can also be placed in tent mode to create a digital panel.

Graphics applications require the necessary computing power and are provided by a dedicated Intel Core H-35 processor. The graphics are powered by the Nvidia RTX 3060. Microsoft is also launching a new Designer app in the Microsoft 365 ecosystem to better support graphic designers.

Surface Studio 2+ will be available in the Belgian market in the following configuration: Intel H-35 Core i7, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD. Available from October 25, at the exorbitant price of €5,639 (including VAT).
