KingsKing Philippe (62) and Queen Mathilde (49) sent their Christmas cards to the world this week. In addition to the two royal dogs, who were allowed to participate for the first time, the strikingly huge Gabrielle in particular stood out. But what have the Christmas cards of the Belgian royals looked like in recent years? How much has our royal family changed? Overview.

In 1999, Philippe and Mathilde pose together to get a Christmas card that year.

A year later, in 2000, Philippe and Mathilde do the same thing again. Philip once again opted for a dark suit with a light blue shirt. Mathilde swapped her black turtleneck for a beige one.

In 2001, the Belgian royal family posed with three cards for that year’s Christmas. In Mathilde’s arms we see the newborn Princess Elisabeth. First seen on October 25, 2001.

A year later, in 2002, little Elizabeth can’t be missed again on our royal family’s Christmas card. Philippe and Mathilde look into the camera, grinning. The little princess is looking somewhat dubious at the moment.

In 2004, Philippe and Mathilde posed with their offspring in front of the fireplace. Princess Elizabeth was accompanied by her little brother Gabriel on the occasion. The last one was born in August 2003.

In 2005 we saw “Family of Five” for the first time. Prince Emmanuel (born October 4, 2005) also earned a spot on our Royal Family’s annual Christmas card for the first time. In addition, the red color also falls touches through the image.

A year later, matching costumes were again chosen. Elisabeth, Gabrielle and Emmanuelle all got a matching jacket in 2006. For this year’s Christmas card, the Belgian royals once again took to the outdoors.
