The unmanned vehicle, called CLEVON 1, has been running steadily on public roads since November. From the Colruyt distribution center you go to the Collect & Go collection point in the center of Londerzeel, a four-kilometer road. Approximately thirty Collect & Go customers were addressed along the way. They wrote last week asking if they’d like to pick up their Collect & Go groceries by unoccupied vehicle.
One of those 30 clients was 26-year-old Elaine Coles. Her house is located directly down the road that Cliffon 1 takes. “I was immediately interested in participating,” Elaine says. “I loved the idea of knowing that a self-driving car would deliver my groceries. It’s also great that you could contribute something innovative.” On Monday, Elaine placed her order on Collect & Go and the team behind the cart called it home. She received a code from them that would allow her to open the cart and unload her groceries. “Everything went very smoothly. I would like to do it again.”
On Tuesday, a total of three deliveries will take place on CLEVON 1’s fixed route. Two of the three took place before 11:30 a.m., and the last between 1 and 2 p.m.
