No Ghent celebrations are without the Spit Burger. Three decades later, the snack could be called iconic, but—believe it or not—it’s by no means gentish. We went looking for a “spitburger source”. It is located on Toekomstlaan, a street in a middle shopping complex in Lokeren. “It is impossible to imitate us,” says inventor Antoine Verfait (74).
