The rotational speed has not yet been clarifiedScientists do not yet have an explanation for why Mars rotates faster. It may have something to do with the planet’s molten metallic core. It “rolls” back and forth, causing the planet to oscillate, as it were. This, in turn, can affect the speed at which Mars rotates.
Unlike Mars, the Earth seems to rotate more slowly on its axis. That’s because the Moon “pulls” our oceans, changing our planet’s mass. Mars has no oceans that could “slow down” the planet.
