After upside-down American flag: Second controversial flag spotted at Supreme Court Justice Alito’s vacation home

Calls for Alito to recuse himself from future Trump cases are growing louder. The Supreme Court will soon have to decide whether presidential immunity can be used against charges surrounding the Trump Capitol storm. If so, Trump cannot be sued in the 2020 election case.

A few days ago — after the upside-down flag story broke — nearly 50 Democrats inside the House of Representatives addressed Justice Alito. They questioned his impartiality and called on him not to pass judgment on matters involving Trump. South Carolina Republican Senator Lindsey O. Graham also called the inverted flag “not a good estimate.”

So far, Alito has consistently refused to back down. He denied having anything to do with the downed flag. “The flag was briefly hung by Ms. Alito in response to offensive words on a neighbor’s yard sign addressed to us.” However, interviews with neighbors revealed that the judge’s wife had an argument with a neighbor who put up an anti-Trump sign in their front yard. He has yet to comment on the pine tree flag in New Jersey.
