Boccia Rombouts player convincingly wins the last match but is disqualified | Games for people with special needs

Francis Rombouts was unable to qualify for the next round in Bocía, a type of petanque for people with severe motor disabilities. After two defeats in the first two matches of the group, the Rombouts still win their last game and thus conclude their games with beauty.

After an absence of ten years, Boca player Francis Rombots returned two years ago. The goal: to qualify for the Paralympic Games in Tokyo. Rombouts succeeded in that, too.

Rombouts started his tournament in good spirits, but immediately had to admit his superiority in the first match in the powerful Slovak Mezik.

Our compatriot was eager to compensate and showed in his second match against world number 1 Saengampa that he has his place in the Games. Rombouts forced the Thai to the limit, but had to take a second loss after the tiebreak.

A place in the next round was no longer possible, but the Rombouts wanted to show themselves again in their last collegiate match against Britain’s Hippole. Our compatriot found his best match again and won convincingly: 8-1. The Rombots are thus third in his group, but he can still look back with relief on his Paralympic adventure.
