Do Tweakers Contain Killer Mugen PCGH? – reconsidering

The Mugen family from the manufacturer Scythe is perhaps one of the most popular series of processor coolers on the market. Many coolers are built around a large cooling block with a 120mm fan on top. Some time ago we tested, among others, the Mugen 5 Rev.C, which uses the same cooling block as its predecessor, but is equipped with new fans.

The Kaze Flex II fans on the Mugen 5 Rev.C can run faster than the previous Rev.B at the same noise level, thus moving more air. So testing has shown that in many cases the new revision performs better than the previous one. However, at the lowest sound pressure of 15dB(A), the Mugen 5 PCGH version, named after the German PC gaming hardware, is still at the top. This cooler uses the same block cooling as the other Mugen 5s, but with two fans designed for minimal noise production. This was achieved, among other things, by limiting the top speed on the PCGH to just 800. Our test results have already shown Mugen 5 PCGH to be an impressive cooler for quiet freaks, with the caveat that the features also offer a clear performance cap when it comes to maximum cooling capacity.

Since the new fan in the Mugen 5 Rev.C spins faster and outperforms the Rev.B at lower sound levels in our tests, the question arose of what a second fan might add. Does the additional Kaze Flex II fan in the Scythe Mugen 5 Rev.C provide much better cooling at both low and high noise levels, and you also have a true PCGH-the killer? We went to investigate and ran a second Kaze Flex II on our Mugen 5 Rev.C, which we’ve rebranded the Kaze Flex II for this test. Mugen 5 talkers version.
