Infrastructure builders to export liquefied natural gas (LNG) are on track to approve a third of three major export projects that could handle a total of about 145 million cubic meters per day. The US is already one of the world’s largest exporters, but due to high demand from Europe, among others, they are expanding their capacity significantly.
Why is this important?
Until the war in Ukraine, Europe was mainly supplied by a network of pipelines from Russia. But since then the gas pipeline has mostly been turned off. The old continent did not give up and quickly built the infrastructure to import more natural gas by sea in the form of liquefied natural gas. Most of it comes from America.In the message: Two projects were already approved earlier this year. A third could follow this weekend. If the latter happens, the US will never recognize that much capability in six months.
- Earlier this year, a project with a capacity of about 34 million cubic meters per day was approved in the state of Louisiana. In Texas, a 51 million cubic meter facility will see the light of day. At the end of this month Lone Star State Maybe another project
