Ewoud Vromant wins silver in time trial despite mechanical failure | Games for people with special needs

Day 8 at the Paralympics started with the men’s time trial in the C2 class. At the Fuji Speedway, the participants, including fellow countryman Ewood Froman, had to complete 3 courses with a length of 8 km.

Vromant immediately got off to a good start in Japan, but soon our compatriot had to set foot on the ground. The mechanical glitch quickly cost the Belgian rider 7 seconds, so the chase immediately became the message.

Our compatriot did not leave himself the balance and passed the first intermediate point in second place. A number of strong candidates still have to pass.

Vromant continued his career, and after two sessions our compatriot remained on the medal circuit. The 37-year-old rider was standing third, after Australian Darren Hicks and France’s Alexandre Lyot.

After a tough final lap, Vromant finally crossed the line in a (temporary) second, but the Leaute still had to get in. However, the Belgian kept his silver, because Lotte also had to deal with misfortune in the absolute final.

After being disqualified in the 3,000m pursuit, Ewoud Vromant has now won his medal. With the road race approaching on September 2, the Belgian also has a chance to win a second medal.
