A fake photo of an explosion near the Pentagon caused confusion and a brief slump in U.S. stock markets on Monday. The film is mostly created with artificial intelligence.

A photo of black smoke appeared on Twitter on Monday afternoon and was shared by several verified accounts with blue ticks. The caption with the photo said there was a huge explosion near the Pentagon.

The Twitter post was started by user OSINTdefender, who identified himself as “Open source intelligence monitoringThe message was later deleted.

This fake news has already been picked up and aired by a major Indian television station. Also a Russian news channel RT The explosion was initially reported, but coverage was withdrawn after it became clear that the incident did not occur.
