Google Meet gets support for 1080p video calling

Google has introduced an update to the Google Meet app. This update ensures that you can make video calls with higher image quality. The maximum resolution is now 1080p or Full HD. However, the higher resolution is not for everyone at the moment.

Google Meet now has a maximum image quality of 1080p. First of all, only Workspace users and a portion of Google One subscribers can hold video meetings in Full HD. It is still not clear whether or not all Google Meet users will receive Full HD support in the future Google help page It states that 1080p will not be available to Google Workspace Essentials, Business Starter, Education Fundamentals, Education Standard, Nonprofits, G Suite Basic, Business, and people with personal Google accounts.

If you belong to the group of users who can participate in 1080p video meetings, you should check if your webcam supports 1080p, your computer is powerful enough and you are using the web version of Google Meet. Before entering a meeting, you must manually indicate that you want to activate 1080p. You can do this via the settings menu or the three dots in the upper right corner of the screen.
