It has always been clear to US President Joe Biden what the plan of Vladimir Putin, his Russian counterpart, is. But according to Biden, Ukraine did not want to hear about threats of invasion.
“I know a lot of people thought I was exaggerating,” Biden said Friday at a fundraiser in Los Angeles. “But that hasn’t been visible since World War II.”
He was sure that Putin was planning to invade his neighbor Ukraine. “We had all the data to support that claim, and there was no doubt about it. But Volodymyr Zelensky didn’t want to hear that,” Biden said of the Ukrainian president.
Since the Russian invasion, the West has been on Ukraine’s side, with supplies of weapons and other aid. Zelensky said on Saturday that Ukraine would win the war with Russia. We will win the conflict started by Russia. “The future rules of the world will be determined on the Ukrainian battlefields,” he said via video link on Saturday at a conference in Singapore.
Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, 287 children were killed and 492 wounded. So says the Kyiv Prosecutor’s Office, but these figures are not complete, they say, because investigations are still ongoing in several areas.
