PGA and European Tour end feud with LIV Tour, even team up | golf

LIV Golf League was launched last year. The new circuit has attracted many global players with petrodollars from Saudi Arabia. Belgian No. 1 Thomas Peters also took the bait.

The American circuit – the PGA Tour – threatened to lose its status and refused to accept LIV players to its tournaments.

This deadlock is now coming to an end. In fact, the PGA Tour and LIV Golf League are combined. The DP World Tour, the European golf circuit, jumps into the dance. They have waved fines and freezes in recent weeks.

“Great,” said LIV USA player Phil Mickelson. “Historic day for the game we all love,” said Guy Monahan of the PGA Tour.

The American PGA Tour and European DP World Tour have dominated the golf world for years. Last year, the LIV Golf Tour came out of the blue.

A newcomer isn’t always welcomed with open arms, especially when it comes to a golf tour funded with money from Saudi Arabia. Many golfers on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour have given up on the lucrative LIV tour.

LIV stands for 54 in Roman numerals: an indication of the number of holes played. 54, not 72, as in other tournaments.
