PropertyUK BALL: Prince William and Princess Catherine celebrate their wedding anniversary and do so with a new official image. Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Marit has returned to work after taking sick leave. And the Prince of Sweden, Carl Philip, called for more tolerance. He never comes a day early, as sarcastic comments about his son’s haircut prove. This and more was featured in Kings this week.

Mette-Marit returned to work after an illness

Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Marit, 49, is back at work after having to cancel some appointments last week due to illness. Together with her mother-in-law, Queen Sonja, she unveiled a ten-meter-high statue in Oslo that is supposed to represent a spider. Despite the rain, she walked around with a bright smile.

Mette-Marit suffers from a fairly rare form of chronic pulmonary fibrosis, which often leaves her feeling short of breath, tired, and lethargic. It’s unclear if her absence from last week has anything to do with this.

A Swedish prince calls: “Be who you are!”

Sweden’s Prince Carl Philip (43), son of King Carl Gustaf, attended the premiere at the Royal Opera in Stockholm with his family. “In the performance, the audience – young and old – was told the message that was just as important: It’s OK to be exactly who you are,” he wrote afterwards on his Instagram.

In one of the photos, Carl Philip looks at his son Alexander (7 years old), who nowadays has long hair and wears it in a ponytail. This provokes negative reactions from some. One follower replied, “Is this a girl or a boy?” Another writes: “You should cut his hair.” Commentaries make it clear that the prince’s call—to be more tolerant of one another—is much needed.

William and Catherine have been married for 12 years

A week before the coronation of King Charles III (74) and Queen Camilla (75), it is already a party in the UK. Prince William (40) and Princess Catherine (41) celebrate their twelfth wedding anniversary.

As a result, they posted a new photo on their social media. They stand smiling with their arms around each other. The photo was taken on a sunny day – judging by the sunglasses – while riding a bicycle through the fields.

Prince William and Kate Middleton — now Catherine, Princess of Wales — met as undergraduates in Scotland. After a ten-year relationship, they tied the knot on April 29, 2011 at Westminster Abbey in London, where the coronation will also take place next Saturday. After the church service, they appeared on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

Catherine is the most popular member of the British royal family, according to a new poll conducted in the UK. 38 percent of those surveyed put it in first place. William came second in the poll, with 34 percent. And “descendants of King Charles” (27 percent) came third together. Princess Anne (72), Charles’s sister, won 25 percent of the vote. King Charles (20 percent) was only fifth.

After Vanuatu, the Crown Prince traveled to Fiji. The islands of Vanuatu and Fiji belong to the group of small developing countries that are increasingly affected by global climate change. As a candidate for the UN Security Council, Denmark stresses that the islands have a strong voice in the global climate negotiations and in the field of international peace and security.

To wrap up her tour, Mary made a stop in Sydney. This was Mary’s first official visit to her native Australia in ten years.
