In football, this is transfer deadline day, but from motorsport transfer day could come. Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton (39) will replace his Mercedes with a Ferrari.
According to rumours, Lewis Hamilton will move to Ferrari in 2025. The 39-year-old driver is still under contract with Mercedes for two seasons, but after a year he could be released.
At Ferrari, Charles Leclerc extended his agreement last week, with Hamilton replacing Carlos Sainz in the red racing car. The Spaniard's contract expires after this season.
There is no deal (officially) yet, but according to insiders, the relationship between Ferrari and Hamilton should be taken seriously. A briefing with employees is scheduled for later today at Mercedes.
Will Lewis Hamilton become Charles Leclerc's teammate?
Lewis Hamilton has been racing for Mercedes since 2013. Whether the Briton will take it a step further is a question mark.
He finished last season with his Mercedes, ahead of the (faster) Ferraris of Sainz and Leclerc. Hamilton finished third in the championship behind the unapproachable Red Bulls. Leclerc finished 2023 in fifth place, and Sainz raced to seventh in the world championship.
