filmThe 2021 Disney animated film “Encanto” was a huge hit. With the earworm “We’re Not Talking About Bruno,” the film took social media by storm, but “Encanto” was also nominated no less than three times for Oscars. It quickly became clear that Encanto would be a success story for Walt Disney, so it only made sense – you guessed it – that there would be a second film. “The producers are looking at possibilities to expand the franchise,” says a Disney insider.
Producer Yvette Merino let slip in a recent interview with US shows “Deadline” and “The Direct” that Disney will work on finding a way to expand the popular “Encanto” franchise across the company. This can range from “Encanto” stories in book form to new rides and integration into theme parks. Or will there simply be a sequel to the hit movie? “I don’t have anything official to say, but I love the world of Encanto and can’t wait to expand it within Disney,” he concludes.

“We are very impressed with the response and how Encanto has touched so many people. We continue to look at different ways we can keep the world alive. I know that at D23 (the Disney event where new plans for the entire Disney empire are revealed, editor.) Encanto was released in 2021 and was directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard from a screenplay by Charisse Castro-Smith and Bush. Voice acting in the animated film is provided by Stephanie Beatriz, María Cecilia Botero, John Leguizamo, Mauro Castillo, Jessica Darrow, Angie Cepeda, Carolina Gaitán, Diane Guerrero, and Wilmer Valderrama.
