Palace flags flutter again on top of the flagpole and the royals are on the move again: The period of mourning for Queen Elizabeth II is now over in the British royal family. Normal life for the royal family resumed on Tuesday, including the visit of the heir to the throne and his wife Kate to Wales.

The period of national mourning ended a week ago. However, the royal family added an extra week to give the new King Charles III and his sons and grandsons some extra peace and privacy for the grieving. The Queen died on September 8 at the age of 96. Charles, still in Scotland, had already had a phone conversation with new Finance Minister Kwasi Quarting on Thursday, who presented his controversial budget plans on Friday.
William and Kate, Prince and Princess of Wales since the Queen’s death, will travel to Wales on Tuesday. They have previously stated that they want to visit the area “as soon as possible” and to deepen the relationship of trust between them and the residents. In June, the couple were also in Wales for celebrations marking the Queen’s 70th anniversary.
