Rwanda will be the venue for the World Cycling Championships in 2025, with or without the much discussed Kigali Wall. It seems that “the World Cup will be a mixture of the Flemish and Walloon classics”.
In 3 years, the cycling world championships will be held in Africa for the first time, more specifically in Rwanda.
Mountain bikers Jens Scheuermanns and France Claes are in the African country this week for their epic Rwanda. They discovered the Kigali wall of Sporza, who could play the role of hangman in the World Cup.
“You should not underestimate the Kigali wall,” says Frans Claes. “But it’s not inclined to be so afraid now either.”
The Kigali Wall is a 500-meter-long cobblestone ramp with a maximum length of 18 percent.
With which Flemish slope can you best compare the wall? “It’s twice Mullenberg in a row,” Claes says. “So they’re going to blow it up at the World Cup.”

It is not yet known if the Kigali Wall will actually be included in the World Cup tournament.
