England is still reeling from Storm Henk. There are 240 flood warnings in force across England. The BBC reported that hundreds of people were evacuated due to the risk of flooding.
Railway lines and roads were flooded, causing major traffic disruption. A dam has broken in east London, forcing around fifty people to be carried to safety. Floodwaters have inundated the banks of the River Trent in Nottinghamshire. Hundreds of homes and other buildings were damaged.
According to the British Environment Agency, in addition to the current rainfall, the risk of flooding is increasing due to recent wet weather. Caroline Douglas, head of the agency's flood office, said the ground was “oversaturated.” “The water isn't going anywhere anymore.” According to the Environment Agency, heavy rain and the risk of flooding are expected over the next five days.
