No budget monitoring in March Economy

The federal government is not holding a budget review in March. The Cabinet decided this on Friday. There will be a report from the Oversight Committee and preparation of the 2025 budget will begin in May.

The federal government usually checks in March and October each year whether it is on track in implementing the budget. This is often accompanied by difficult negotiations over necessary adjustments, which is not easy just a few months after elections, and thus it is not uncommon for budget monitoring to be halted.

On Friday, the Cabinet considered an action plan. Budget implementation will be monitored based on the report of the Monitoring Committee. Technical preparations for the 2025 budget are scheduled to begin at the administrative level next May. In principle, the budget should be submitted to the European Commission in October.
